Taiwan delegation meeting with CIR students and faculty

Recently, the Committee on International Relations was honored to welcome the Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) Delegation and MAC Minister Dr. Chui-Cheng Chiu for an afternoon of dialogue, exchange, and learning. The event, co-hosted with UChicago Global, highlighted the strong and growing ties between CIR and Taiwan.

CIR students and faculty have long engaged with Taiwan through research, study trips, and collaborative discussions. This visit marked another step in strengthening those connections, with the program featuring student research presentations, reflections from the CIR Taiwan Trek, and wide-ranging conversations on current regional developments.

We are especially grateful to Katie Hrinyak, Associate Vice President of Global Initiatives & Strategy, for opening the session, and to Austin Carson, Faculty Director of CIR, for guiding the program. Deputy Dean Paul Poast also led a thoughtful discussion on today’s pressing foreign policy challenges.

We look forward to continuing this collaboration and to building even stronger bridges between CIR, UChicago, and Taiwan.
