SSRC Faculty Seed Grant Program

Launched in 2018, the SSRC Faculty Seed Grant Program provides one- to two-year grants to support early stage or novel research, with a special focus on projects that transcend the boundaries of any one discipline.

The SSRC Faculty Seed Grant Program was designed to support high-risk, high-reward projects and enable faculty to quickly and efficiently test their most promising and innovative ideas via competitive research grants. Grant projects were designed to provide the “proof of concept” researchers need to secure larger investments from federal agencies and foundations. The program was intended to foster an entrepreneurial environment in which novel ideas can be tested and scaled, and new schools of thought and inquiry can flourish.

This program ran from 2018-2020 and 2023-2024. The grant program has been paused for 2025; more information on future cycles will be available here if resumed.
