Diverse Backgrounds

Students in the Committee on International Relations come to the program with diverse backgrounds but share the common goal of exploring the complicated realities of contemporary international relations from both theoretical and historical perspectives. CIR students form a cohesive and supportive community of scholars both inside and outside the classroom. Throughout the academic year CIR organizes a variety of events to promote informal intellectual and social exchange between program faculty and students, hosts outings to Chicago area cultural and sports events, and provides opportunities for current students to network with program alumni. The broader University of Chicago community and the city of Chicago itself, truly a global city, offer students an unparalleled array of intellectual and cultural riches.
