I came to CIR with a Master's degree in French and a modest agenda of learning about international relations and human rights, which was then a brand new subject to me. What I benefited from the CIR program, however, turned out to be far beyond my original expectation. The accelerated, yet well balanced, first-year program allowed me to catch up quickly the fundamental concepts and the ongoing debates in the field. It also introduced me to an array of analytical skills essential to the research works both inside and outside academia. I focused my second-year studies on Political Economy and Development, aiming to develop my thesis from the perspectives of both human rights and institutional analysis. It is a great experience to discover one's own career interest and world vision through the intellectually multifaceted, vibrant program of CIR!
