I chose the University of Chicago because of CIR's reputation as a top-tier International Relations M.A. program. After four years of working in the busy world of network news as a terrorism analyst and production associate, CIR gave me the opportunity to read and debate in-depth, the theories and concepts behind the frenzy of current events we process daily. The caliber of the professors and rigorous coursework substantially strengthened my analytical and writing skills, and the smaller program size was better-suited for engaging in conversations with classmates with diverse nationalities and perspectives. Most of all, the one-year program provided the perfect amount of time to transition and expand my career without falling out of the workforce loop; I now support various U.S. government agencies such as USAID and the State Department as a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton.
