CIR affords its students considerable autonomy to pursue interests across the social sciences or, equally, to focus their studies on a particular topic or region. Having completed a law degree at the University of Durham in the UK, I was interested in both developing my legal knowledge and exploring other disciplines. I took several classes at UofC's Law School, as well as courses throughout the Harris School of Public Policy, the Department of Political Science and the Graduate School of Business.

I currently live in New York City, and work for a law firm that specializes in complex civil and criminal litigation. My recent cases range from regulatory and criminal investigations in the insurance and hedge fund industries to international extraditions, and I've found the research and writing skills that I acquired during my time in CIR to be invaluable. CIR is intense, enriching, and very rewarding. I recommend it highly to anyone interested in a rigorous and challenging - not to mention well respected - course of study that offers routes into diverse academic and professional fields.
