CIR is unique among MA programs for its balance of structure and flexibility, ideal for the early stages of graduate education: it offers a broad theoretical and methodological overview of the field, while also enabling students to pursue advanced training in their subfields of interest. Perhaps most importantly, CIR quickly provides its students with the analytic foundation necessary to engage the larger intellectual life of the University, the intensity of which is unequaled anywhere. I knew I was receiving an excellent education at the time, and I¹m even more convicted of it in retrospect.
