The CIR program inspired me to come to DC to get involved in policy issues and politics. In the government realm, the program prepared me for a career that has included working for the Director of Voice of America, handling defense and foreign affairs issues for a US Senator, and helping set up the legislative affairs shop at the Department of Homeland Security. Wherever I go and whatever I do, the legacy of my experiences at CIR U of C are with me and bring me confidence and an intellectual grounding.
