People
The faculty of the Committee on International Relations is a group of distinguished scholars drawn from various disciplinary backgrounds. The staff is a group of dedicated people whose objectives are to ensure the effective overall CIR program planning and execution. In addition to working with the members of the Committee, CIR students are encouraged to develop professional relationships with other faculty at the University. This access to the University of Chicago's unparalleled faculty resources, combined with the unique interdisciplinary nature of the CIR academic requirements offers a highly flexible and individualized degree program in a high-powered research environment. CIR students are advised on an individual or small-group basis by a select group of advanced graduate student preceptors. The preceptors help students to fulfill the coursework portion of their degree program, aid them in refining their M.A. Thesis topic, and in committing their work to paper. The staff assists students with the nonacademic and administrative aspect of the program. The CIR program staff also works closely with career counselors from the Career, Advising and Planning Services (CAPS) at the University, offering support and advice to students in career exploration and planning, resume and mock interview training and job fairs and recruitment efforts.
