Where Are CIR Alumni?

CIR alumni pursue a wide array of professional paths. About a quarter of alumni pursue the PhD degree at leading research universities in top political science and other departments around the country and abroad. Others attain advanced degrees in law, public policy, or business. Every year CIR graduates receive prestigious fellowships such as the Presidential Management Fellowship, Boren Fellowship, State Department Internship, and Fulbright Fellowship.

Beyond the academy CIR alumni accept positions with federal and state government agencies, such as the US Department of Defense, US Department of State, Government Accountability Office, US Army, and US Department of the Treasury. Other alumni work for professional associations, foundations, NGOs, and international agencies such as Human Rights Watch and the United Nations or in research, public policy, and political analysis at think tanks and consulting firms. Every year several alumni pursue careers in writing and journalism, while many others build careers throughout the private sector.
