I entered the CIR program right out of college, which is not right for some but was perfect for me. I was able to really focus in on my particular interests and fill out the gaps in my undergraduate study.

Recent Cohorts

The Incoming CIR class over the last five years has averaged 48 students. There is also a stable international student presence: the 2007 class has a 14% international student representation from the United Kingdom, Canada, Taiwan, Poland, Serbia, and China. Over the last 5 years, at least 85% of students graduated and at least 76% did so within 12 months of starting the program. Obtained from exit interviews conducted over the last 5 years' cohorts, CIR alumni were found to go on to do the following:

About one third of our CIR graduates go on to successfully pursue doctoral or professional school studies within twelve months of completing their CIR degrees. Schools include: Cornell University (J.D. in Law); Brandeis University (Ph.D. in Political Science); the University of Chicago (Ph.D. in Political Science and Ph.D. in History); Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania (Ph.D. in Business); Loyola University (Ph.D. in Cultural and Educational Policy Studies); New York University (Ph.D. in Sociology); University of California at Berkeley (Ph.D. in Political Science); University of Virginia (Ph.D. in Political Science); McGill University (Ph.D. in Political Science); Harvard University (Ph.D. in Political Science); and University of Witswatersrand (M.A. in African Politics).

Approximately one third of CIR graduates enter the non-profit sector in fields such as government and policy work, international organizations, non-profits and NGO work. Governmental organizations include: the U.S. Department of State; Central Intelligence Agency (CIA); U.S. Army; the Government of Singapore; the Texas Department of Transportation; the Diplomatic Office of the President (Republic of Cyprus). Non-profit organizations include: the World Bank; RAND; the Liberian Refugee Program; Ashoka - Innovators for the Public; Center for Strategic and International Studies; Scholars at Risk Network Program; American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE); the World Bank; SAIC; Canadian Center for Treaty Compliance; the Frasier Institute; Danish Association of Lawyers and Economists.

About one third of recent CIR graduates enter the for-profit sector, where the focus is in think tanks, financial services, international law firms and risk analysis firms. Firms represented include: A.T. Kearney, Hong Kong; Amaranth Hedge Funds; Booz Allen Hamilton; Deloitte, U.K.; Euro Diesel Corporation (Madrid); Kobre and Kim LLP, New York; Latham and Watkins LLP; Mailander and Company; Merrill Lynch; Morgan Stanley; Overseas China Banking Corporation, Singapore; Pace Harmon Consulting Group (Vienna); Raymond James Financial Services; SAIC; and the United Health Group.
